How-To Plan a Styled Engagement Session | Something Minted Photography

All I want for Christmas is You | Puyallup, WA Engagement Photographer

Planning a wedding is such an exciting time, especially when it begins during the holiday season!

One of the first things you should check off your wedding planning checklist after finding the venue is securing a photographer & holding your engagement photography session! Many engagement sessions take place in the fall months when cozy blankets and nose nuzzling are a must :) Another wonderful time to hold your engagement session is in the spring when you are ready to send out save-the-dates.

Inspiration for concept engagement sessions can come from many things, including your personal style and the season it is held.

Meet Krystina & Jordan, two lovebirds who are tying the knot this January (I can't think of a better way to ring in the new year!) I am so very happy to be flying into Portland, Oregon to capture all the love surrounding them on what I know will be a beautiful day. I've had the delight in photographing Krystina as a senior, here as a fiancĂ© and soon as a bride! Then maybe as a mama some day :)

This picnic styled engagement session was inspired by warm layers, apple cider & the surrounding evergreen trees! Grab a mug of cider yourself and cozy up to this session:
I love creating table settings that reflect the weddings theme. This farm table styled setting fits the couple's upcoming rustic wedding.
I'm always looking for a fun and creative way to announce a wedding date! I was thrilled to hear Krystina shares my love for antique props, so I brought this one along:
Location is everything! As a natural light photographer, I love to backlight my couples to capture that dreamy glow the late sun gives off :)
I have this giant chalkboard (an amazing thrift store find!) on hand for when a couple has a special message or favorite quote they want to share. Just let me know ahead of time if you'd like me to bring it along, I'm happy to!
Thank you Krystina & Jordan for choosing Something Minted Photography for your engagement session and styling too, cheers! Shout out to second shooter Lindsey for helping me capture every angle ;)
